With one of the larger population bases in Contra Costa County (72,000+), San Ramon is a dynamic city. It has a variety of homes, parks and stores and a major employment center. San Ramon is headquarters of Chevron Corporation and 24-Hour Fitness, the West Coast headquarters of AT&T Inc., as well as home to San Ramon Medical Center.
San Ramon hosts a weekly, year round Farmers’ Market and the Art and Wind Festival on Memorial Day weekend each year.
In 2008, the 2.1 million square foot City Center project was approved. Currently on hold pending the strengthening of the economy, San Ramon City Center is an $850 million complex which will sit on 40 acres in the middle of town. It will feature a unique neighborhood atmosphere blending together community gathering, living, shopping, working, and dining experiences. Best estimates for groundbreaking on this project is early 2015.
